This book can be enjoyed and used by anyone who is interested in dogs, wants to train their own dog, or improve its behaviour. You will also find that it is a great aid for anyone who is hoping to train their own dog to be an Emotional Support Dog which will therefore be trained and qualified to the high level required for public access work. I have the best job in the world. Every day I have the privilege to work with families who are trying to do their best to live with daily challenges that cause anxiety and distress. Many of my clients are Neurodiverse, but equally I am seeing more enquiries for people with poor mental health who are struggling to engage with society and work or school. My business, Paws for Assistance supports families to train their own Emotional Support Dog. It’s been noticed that spending time around dogs helps us to feel calmer and gives many people a sense of purpose. The demand for my services has increased considerably over the last five years which tells me that not only are more people are probably struggling with daily life, but also that there is a lot more information about the bond between humans and dogs and the emotional support and comfort that dogs can provide. This has triggered more people to be interested in training their own family pet for public access work in the role of an Emotional Support dog. The aim of this book is to take you through the process of training your dog to provide emotional support and to be trained to go out in public to places where family dogs are not usually accepted. This could be into supermarkets, doctors, the list is endless. I want to give you a great training programme that you can use and tailor to your life, and your puppy or older dog. In the book I take you chapter by chapter through the journey with your dog from making the decision to raise an Emotional Support dog, choosing the right dog, the perils and joy of puppyhood and how to settle your new dog into your home.<br/
