
TAINTED WITH PRAYERS, Contaminado con oraciones, written by Prof. Ram Krishna Singh, whose poetry I have not translated literally but interpreted, feeling as if it were mine because it conveys the same message that I have tried to tell the world through my own poetry.With the promise of BETTER DAYS (achche din, in Hindi) for the common man, both in India and in the rest of the world, the most infamous threats to human rights are happening. This is how democracies succumb, and the essence of culture is quickly lost in the meanders of indifference and falsehood, -- the issues that Ram Krishna emphasizes in his poetry. Enter the poetry of Ram Krishna Singh to play a critical, relevant and definitive role in the mind of those who want to join his cry of rebellion which is the redemption of the soul and the liberation of the body from the corruption unleashed at the universal level both moral and material. There is a sense of rebellion among the masses that explodes for any reason in street protests and violence that tends to be endemic. The time has come to make poetry a therapeutic tool for human beings to taste its goodness and know that it does not hurt or kill or compete nor is it flattering but it nourishes the spirit and redeems and saves and heals the evils of the soul and of the body. The time has come for poetry to cease to be cybernetic and become the family doctor we need, not only to fill our lives with melodious echoes of peace and spiritual harmony but as body therapy. It implies understanding that when we write, most of the time we are launching a call for help, concealed in academically polished metaphors and verses or in simple linguistic expressions that directly or indirectly refer to almost always personal human situations without daring to fully discover the cause of our feelings.Translating Ram Krishna meant understanding even more that poetry can be a redeemer of evils, profound revealer of the social and religious circumstances that influence the
