The making of the South Kensington Museum celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Victoria and Albert Museum with a number of essays by the late Clive Wainwright, documenting many aspects of te early history of collecting at the South Kensington Museum. The issue also includes accounts of early collecting practice and of the interrelations of the curators with contemporary collectors and dealers.
