Before New York was New York, it was part of a small Dutch colony, New Netherland. Throughout history different people wrote about this colony and its influence. From Diedrich Knickerbocker to Russell Shorto, every writer had their own heroes and focus. This book is how this historiography has changed over the years. From the 16th century till now, the history did not change, however the way it is written about did.
