This is a heart warming story about a young tree named Orville. Orville lives among his friends in the forest, but his happy place is upended when workers come to cut down the trees. However, in time Orville begins to learn that sometimes our greatest purpose isn't what we originally thought it was. He begins to see just how important a simple tree in the forest can be. This story was originally written in 1975 for the children of my fathers handmade furniture business, “Reed Craft". Now that I'm a professional illustrator myself, what better way to pay tribute to Orville and my father than by bringing his story back for a new generation of children.
