Robert Earl Toyn and Joy Lucille Wood were reared in Ogden, Utah during the “Great Depression.” It was a time when everyone grew up living by the mantra “Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.” Bob served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and afterward married his high school sweetheart, his beloved wife Joy.They were forced to endure the tragic loss of their oldest child, but it became a catalyst for change, giving them the impetus to grow in their faith as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bob made his career as a teacher, but they teamed up to raise a family of five children. Later in life they built a successful nursery business that served the Huntsville, Utah community for nearly two decades. Upon retiring, they faithfully served two full-time missions.Together for nearly seven decades, Bob and Joy’s life aptly illustrate the principle that God cares less about how and when we begin our path to discipleship, but more that we ultimately finish on His path.
