Based on a 2007 sample of children aged 6 to 12 years from the districts of Andahuaylas, Lima 3, Rioja, and San Román. Examines the roles of preschools, primary schools and their teachers in facilitating transition to the first grade, how well parents are informed, and how children experience this transition.
