The final book in the "Reality Protest" trilogy, SHANGRI-LA; or, OH DEARISM was conceived of in an ice rink parking lot in Idaho, while Maierhofer listened over and over to "Shangri-La" by the Kinks, and felt like there might be a way of realizing a writing project he'd wanted to pursue for some time, inspired in part by William S. Burroughs' Red Nights trilogy, and taking the form of three commonplace books, each exploring things tied with childhood viewing experiences of films like SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON, Mary Martin starring in PETER PAN, and later viewings of things like BRIGADOON, and Pasolini's TRILOGY OF LIFE.

This edition also includes an afterword, entitled "Reality Protest," briefly summarizing the whole endeavor. The first book, HOW FEAR CAME; or the JUNGLE NOTEBOOKS, was released 06/01, the second, VANISHING POINT; or the SECRET HISTORIES, Bloomsday 2024, this, the final, on 06/30, the author's birthday.

Note: Because of the formatting, this wouldn't convert readily to a Kindle format, so this one is only availalble in paperback.
