Author Description

This is a collection of stories written by ten teenage girls who participated in a writer's program led by professional authors and editors. Each girl chose what she wanted to write. No subject was suggested. The girls read parts of their stories aloud to the rest of the group and completed their stories at home between sessions. At the conclusion of the program their stories were professionally edited, typeset, and printed in a book published by the Literary Arts Society of Ventura County (LASVC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. It was first offered for sale at the Ventura Book Festival, produced by the same nonprofit organization. Each young author received a copy of the book and their family could buy additional copies at a reduced rate. The LASVC uses the profits from the sale of the books to provide additional writing programs to youth.
