Manchester, July 1996, the month after the IRA bomb. The EVENING NEWS reports two murders. On the front page is a photograph of an heiress to an oil fortune, her body discovered in the basement of a block of flats... Buried in the later pages there's a fifty-word piece on the murder of a young prostitute. For Bane, it's the latter that hits hardest.
