It is the summer of 1966, and Little Leap Forward and his friends are growing up in Beijing. One day Little Leap Forward catches a bird. He keeps the bird in a cage and tries to teach it to sing. But his pet is silent - what can he do? Then the Red Guards arrive, and Little Leap Forward sees things in a new light.
