Students recommend $100 worth of children's books for the school library; investigate distances in miles and tenths of a mile using a city map to plan a tour of the area; discuss ways to combine and compare large numbers; and plan a trip around the U.S. of no more than 10,000 miles. Suggested pacing: 16 sessions.
