Building Biblical Convictions is a student manual of the SALT Institute (Servant Approach Leadership Training) of Woodland Park Baptist Church. SALT (originally called "Timothy School") was birthed out of a commitment to live out the Apostle Paul's charge in Ephesians 4:11 to equip the saints for the work of service. Most of what we call convictions are really just semi-studied opinions regardless of how strongly we hold to those beliefs. Often what we believe has been defined simply by education (what we have been taught by others), experience (or the lack of it), or ethos (the beliefs those we respect hold). To truly be called a conviction, a correct exegesis of everything Scripture has to say on the matter. Doctrinal error arises when we base our beliefs on anything less.

The original vision of SALT was to focus on practical training that emphasizes the centrality of God's word, the reality that ministry is received, not achieved, and the necessity of yielding to Christ and letting Him live through us. The program has operated since 1991 with graduates filling countless roles of lay leadership in churches and ministries. Approximately one third of the 300+ graduates have gone on to serve in vocational ministry all over the US and in nearly 50 countries around the world.
