The contents of this book cover a period from pre-1873 to the present day.Historians claim there has been a church in Sherburn since Saxon times. Out of the lives of the thirty three vicars included on St Hilda's Church list of vicars, the author has attempted to record the main highs and lows of their ministries, starting with the Revd John Mason (1834-1873.) Names and lists of names are included for the interest of people who have lived and still live i the village, and for genealogists who have Sherburn ancestors. There are also short interesting stories of people whose lives have touched the longer story of Sherburn - a history of St Hilda's church.
