A report containing results of the 12th annual National Prison Census 30 June 1993. The census included all persons, sentenced, awaiting to be sentenced and awaiting trial, held in adult correctional institutions in all Australian jurisdictions. The information is of three basic types: general information on the demographic and social characteristics of the prisoners, information on the legal status of the prisoners including the nature of the offences or charges and details of sentences being served. Includes six figures and three appendices, one of which provides maps of the locations of custodial correctional institutions in each state or territory.
