In the pages of this book, the most pertinent documents concerning Pearl Harbor have been reproduced. Four different locations--Pearl Harbor, Washington, Tokyo, and Berlin--have been selected as foci for an understanding of the circumstances surrounding the attack. A separate section dealing with the Hull-Nomura conversations has been included, and an effort has been made to let witnesses speak for themselves in the hope that the atmosphere thus re-created will contribute to our understanding of that tragic day.
