Meine Nächte mit den Linken' (My nights with the leftists) is the third volume of Harun Farocki?s writings and provides all of Harun Farocki?s published texts from 1964 to 1975? many of them for the first time since the initial publication. The book contains essays and book reviews for the Spandauer Volksblatt, which Farocki wrote in his early twenties before taking up his film studies; it documents his intensive involvement with agitation, didactics and cybernetics around 1970 and reveals how the journal Filmkritik became the central platform for his often polemical analysis of the film culture and political landscape of West-Germany. At the same time, the texts can be read as an enlightening commentary on Farocki?s film and television productions of these years. Especially 'Nicht löschbares Feuer' (Inextinguishable Fire, 1969) and 'Der Ärger mit den Bildern' (The Trouble with Images, 1973) are taken up again and extended in detailed essays.
