Starting with an introduction to freight transportation and policy, then into the five modes of transportation (Motor Carriers, Railroad, Air Transportation, Water Carriers, and Pipeline). The intermodal and management operations are explained. The different types of outsourced logistics providers are covered along with transportation risk management. This text is intended for undergraduate and graduate students studying transportation, logistics, or supply chain management.
