Among the various modes of territoriality of humanity, throughout history, urban societies correspond to their own spatial structure and morphology that, until recently, allowed us to distinguish them from other types of settlements. In recent decades, urban studies point to a series of emerging transformations in the structure and shape of cities. These transformations are complex and unprecedented. The interpretation of the emerging forms of the urban requires new epistemologies and an interdisciplinary approach. In this sense, the contributions gathered in this work are a reflection of these demands for a better understanding of the urban phenomenon, in general, and of the shape of cities, in particular.
