Excerpt from Climatological Data, Vol. 68: Texas; January 1963 Damage to South Texas commercial vegetables was heavy, as were losses to oats and flax in south central Texas. Damage to citrus trees was very light compared to the January 1962 freeze. Small grains in northwest Texas were set back by the severe cold. January weather was exceptionally dry as well as cold.
