
Frederick John Blenkarn was born In England in 1888. He migrated to Australia, went to school at Scotch College, then farmed in the Mallee and joined the Australian Army in 1915. Frederick served initially at Gallipoli. He then went to fight in France where he won his Military Cross at Broodseinde Ridge in the Third Battle of Ypres. He served in the Citizen's Military Forces for part of World War Two. He died in 1962. Frederick John Blenkarn's life deserves to be remembered; too many of the heroes of World War One are forgotten.
