<p>In the summer of 1874, Berry set out into the largely unexplored territory of the Upper Yellowstone, accompanied by U.S. Deputy Surveyor Arnold Hague. The Great Divide chronicles Berry's travels through one of the last untamed regions of the American West and offers detailed observations of the geothermal and geological wonders that would eventually become Yellowstone National Park. </p><p>This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.</p><p>This work is in the "public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations.
