ThompsonAngela M. Thompson obtained a BSPE, M.Sc. in physical education and a Ph.D. in kinesiology from the University of Saskatchewan. She currently teaches in the Department of Human Kinetics at St. Francis Xavier University. An Outstanding Teacher Award recipient in 2005, Angie teaches Principles of Human Movement, Personal Health and Wellness, Qualitative Research Methods, Child Growth and Development, and Health Education. She is an avid researcher who focuses on physical activity, physical fitness, and health, primarily in children and youth. Community contributions include committee work with the University Research Ethics Board, Library, and Senate, as well as participation in the wider community with the Nova Scotia Alliance for Healthy Eating and Physical Activity and with the Active Kids, Healthy Kids communities. She also makes various presentations, including keynote addresses, to groups focused on early childhood development, child and youth services, chronic disease prevention, behaviour change, and education.
