
With our Holiday Books becoming more popular by the year, in 2000 we published Carol Bly's An Adolescent's Christmas: 1944, a memoir -- not fiction -- about a wartime Christmas in Duluth. "What does it mean, " Carol wrote in her essay, "if the fourteen-year-old daughter in an affectionate, loyal, and at least three-quarters cultured family has bad dreams about the Gestapo?" Recalling her own adolescent thinking and thinking of what adolescents experience now, Carol came to some astonishing conclusions.
