Sofia, Juan, and Alberto, three nine-year-olds, tend to be mischievous. Their latest misbehavior leads their teacher to confine them to an empty room as a punishment. “Think about your behavior,” she suggests. Although they don’t really mean to, the three children end up analyzing their behavior. They decide to draw pictures of themselves as the “monsters our teacher thinks we are.” That’s how Losaf (Sofia’s monster), Naju (Juan’s monster), and Obelrat (Alberto’s monster), come to life. The monsters represent all the fears and negative traits the children attribute to themselves. This captivating book goes beyond entertaining readers, inviting them to analyze themselves and face up to their fears.
