The contributors usually focus on one film from the period, put it in the historical, cultural, political and, above all, the formaesthetic context of its creation - and elucidate other works of the investigated director or process-related films. This creates a panoptic of aesthetic innovation in the late silent film with its selected and outstanding artifacts.
