Author Description

The twenty buildings built by Jos Bascourt between 1898 and 1908 testify to the architect's strong personality, through an at once sober and exuberant vocabulary. His realisations marry the Art Nouveau style to eclecticism which will remain the dominant tendency of its work. Buildings constructed by Jos Bascourt which escaped demolition today remain one of the main architectural curiosities of the city of Antwerp and mainly the District of Zurenborg.
