Katsushika Hokusai (1760 1849) chronicled early modern Japanese society and culture in more than thirty thousand drawings, as well as illustrations for over five hundred books. Among the twelve images reproduced in this calendar are Cherry Blossoms at Yoshino, Snow on the Sumida River, and The Coast of Noboto. Published with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
