Author Description

Narrated by a paramedic who works at a mine in Costa Rica, this book is about a young girl who finds herself pregnant. She is a virgin and cannot understand why. Her boyfriend is also a virgin. The paramedic has been in love with the girl since she was seven years old. He visits a brothel to try to get over his fascination and befriends a prostitute who helps him solve his dilemma through understanding his situation and wanting to help. In trying to help, her pimp tries to punish her. The resulting tale takes the reader through the town of Los Duos, its inhabitants and the trials of dealing with a church that sees a saint in the making, the mother who wants the fetus aborted, the religious zealots, and the press who sees a juicy international story evolving.
