<p>Early in the 21st Century, the Tyrell Corporation advanced robot technology into the Nexus phase – a being virtually identical to a human – known as a Replicant. Replicants were used Off-world as slave labor.</p><p><br></p><p>After a series of violent rebellions, their manufacture was prohibited and Tyrell Corp ultimately went bankrupt.</p><p><br></p><p>The collapse of ecosystems in the mid 2020s led to the rise of industrialist Niander Wallace, whose mastery of synthetic farming averted famine.</p><p><br></p><p>Wallace acquired the remains of Tyrell Corp and created a new line of Replicants who obeyed without question.</p><p><br></p><p>One of the first of these, code-named Luv, was gifted by Wallace to the Los Angeles Police Department as the first Replicant Blade Runner, tasked with the capture and retirement of fugitive earlier models.</p><p><br></p><p>A Replicant underground survives, led by former combat model, Freysa and her human partner Aahna Ashina, known as Ash, formerly the first-ever female Blade Runner.</p><p><br></p><p>Los Angeles, 2039</p>
