Four years have passed and the Huldu are still at war with the red caps. Caitlyn's new position as a raid leader has given her something to do for her people, and keep her precious blood away from the battles where the warriors are being kidnapped and later found exsanguinated. It's not clear why they've resorted to such tactics but Queen Ciara is determined to find out why. There are few things that Caitlyn needs to forget about the war, one is her son Conall, with his panther tail and bright smile he reminds her every day of her lost love. The other is Orthrin. The lion tailed man has finally proclaimed his love for her, but it scares her. He doesn't go on raids, he fights in the battles against the bloody monsters and the fear of what happened to Cloud happening again makes Caitlyn keep their love a secret. When she finally lets her Champion Rush know that she is stressed about love, he believes she is talking about him and puts his heart on the line for her. While the war rages Caitlyn finds her heart being torn in two by both men. She thinks she has time to figure everything out when the Queen institutes a 'Degno', an ancient competition between the two men and whoever wins may marry the Princess. Caitlyn doesn't see how this is a good idea seeing as how they are at war but the Queen insists this will help morale. Which of these worthy men will win Caitlyn's heart and who will come out victorious when the Mound itself is at stake from a familiar foe?
