This collective work deals with the general issues such as the Soviet commodity power, Soviet terms of trade and the Soviet attitude towards international commodity agreements, and comprises studies evaluating the Soviet role in specific markets of natural oil and gas, copper, manganese and chromite, bauxite and aluminum, gold and platinum, coal and asbestos, grain and cotton.
