Berlin, 1920s. Germany grapples with the aftermath of World War I, facing turmoil due to the harsh restrictions imposed by the Treaty of Versailles. Nationalism and political extremism are on the rise, sparking global concerns about another war. In this context, American intelligence suspects that Germany is rearming but needs evidence to justify action. Weber, an aeronautical engineer by trade, is a former WWI combat pilot who flew for a Swedish airline after the war and then took a job in Washington, DC, designing commercial aircraft. A patriot at heart, he accepts the Berlin mission despite his misgivings about its objectives and the ethical compromises it might entail. The mission, he's told, involves finding and seducing a high-ranking female engineer believed to be a senior officer in the Reichswehr's covert Aviation Coalition. It also requires him to fly perilous aerial surveillance missions to penetrate German air defenses and locate secret manufacturing facilities and air bases. However, perhaps the most challenging aspect is the personal sacrifice he must make as a single parent: he must move his adolescent son to Berlin and potentially involve him in his dangerous clandestine affairs. After settling in Berlin, Weber tries his best to overcome his doubts and rise to the challenge. However, he soon faces unexpected obstacles that threaten his mission. His romantic quest fails at first but then takes an unexpected turn. His son is recruited by the Hitler Youth and is put in harm's way. His surveillance missions prove risky when his plane is no match for thinly disguised "phantom" German fighters. Worst of all, Weber himself is relentlessly pursued by one of Hermann Göring's most cunning and diabolical Nazi agents. Hunted and fearing for his son, Weber must find a way to fulfill his mission and return home.
