Author Description

The book focuses on pictures in the possession on his family, some of which are published here for the first time. Ceramic designs and bowls show Macke as a member of the great reform movement known as the Werkbund, the precursor of the Bauhaus. The book provides a chronological journey through the artist's varied oeuvre, accompanied by private photographs. Short academic essays on specific topics round off this "very private" look at Macke.
