Author Description

This book is written by Ji Yun in his twilight years, from Qianlong 54th year (1789) to Jiaxing 3rd year (1798). This book mainly tells some stories about ghosts and gods, aiming at persuading people to be good and punishing the vicious. But through a variety of description, it reflects the corruption and darkness of feudal society. The materials of this book draw from Ji Xiaolans personal experiences, seeing and hearing, as well as materials provided or paraphrased by others, ranging from such social life field as literati, prostitutes, beggars, the three religions and the nine wisdoms to ghosts and gods, almost all-inclusive.
