About the Author Dr. Toh-Ming Lu, the Ray Palmer Baker Distinguished Professor of physics, was the former Chairman of the Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy, at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 1992 to 1997. Currently he is the Co-director of the Semiconductor Research Corporation Center for Advanced Interconnect Science and Technology where 30 faculty (from 10 universities) and 50 graduate students are involved in computer chip research.
