What price, Paradise? Avalon is a literary novel set in Southern California, focusing on Catalina Island, a glamorous sea-side resort. Its prose style is reminiscent of modernist writers of the era, but with an ironic, surrealistic edge. Interior illustrations are in a similarly ironic style. Hugh Bonar has written for the LA WEEKLY and SPIN magazine, and performs music as the solo artist HB3. This is his first novel.
