The Lindau Gospels’ bindings were designed to inspire awe when the book was carried in processions or displayed on an altar. Paperblanks Lindau Flexi softcover notebook depicts the back cover of this bookmaking masterwork, created near Salzburg between 750 and 800 AD. It was tooled in gilt, silver and enamel and adorned with jewels, making for a powerful manifestation of art as a vehicle for belief.
