This book details the history of Myeik's most prominent Buddhist site. Known today as Theindawgyi Phaya, it is home to an enormous golden zedi called Lay Kyun Semee which overlooks the town's harbor. Its history goes back for centuries, but like the Tanintharyi region, it is barely known to outsiders. Fortunately, the venerable sayadaw of Taw Kyaung Monastery in Myeik wrote a history of Theindawgyi in 1970. This edition is an annotated English translation of his Myanmar-language original.
