Gilbert and Sullivan are among the most famous musical partnerships of all time. The theatrical fun and flippancy of their operatic creations, filled with contagious melodies and scintillating lyrics, have delighted both performers and audiences for well over a century. G & S for Choirs is a new collection of 18 familiar and unforgettable songs from the Savoy Operas, all expertly arranged for SATB choir by Peter Gritton, who compiled the popular Encores for Choirs. The selections range from sentimental ballads to tongue-twisting patter songs, including "A Wandering Minstrel I" and "Titwillow" (The Mikado); "A Modern Major General" and "A Policeman's Lot" (The Pirates of Penzance); "The Magnet and the Churn" (Patience); "The Nightmare Song" (Iolanthe); and "I Have a Song to Sing, O! (The Yeomen of the Guard). A mix of a cappella and accompanied arrangements, these pieces are suitable for choirs of all levels.
