This work investigates the musical arrangement and structural composition of a traditional English carol for choral and instrumental performance. The publication, produced by Oxford University Press, provides a formal score for John Rutter's interpretation of a classic text. It serves as a technical resource for conductors and musicians seeking to perform this specific arrangement in a liturgical or concert setting.

Experts and choral directors frequently identify this publication as a standard, accessible arrangement for holiday repertoire. Musicians often note the clarity of the score and the flexibility provided by the optional instrumental parts.
