This work investigates the potential for flexible choral arrangement within the context of traditional Christmas carols. The author, John Gardner, utilizes his expertise in composition to adapt the popular carol 'Rejoice and be merry' into a versatile musical setting. The arrangement provides a structured framework that accommodates various vocal combinations while maintaining the integrity of the original melody.

Experts and choral directors frequently cite this arrangement for its accessibility and jaunty, original character. The piece is recognized as a standard selection for holiday performances, particularly due to its inclusion on professional recordings by groups such as Tenebrae.
