The stark realities of a ripple effect, felt through the generations, created by that very first decision to place a child into care, are revealed in this book. As a child Elaine Henderson lived in a world of secrecy, under a pseudo-idyllic so-called 'care' system. She tells her story about how it felt to be in care and describes the oppressive emptiness of not knowing who she is, who her true family are and ultimately who her real mother is. This book is her quest to find the answers to her many questions and to find the family she belongs to.
