The conventional energy resources like fossil fuels, coal, petroleum and natural gas are depleting day by day, thereby posing a challenge to science in meeting the ever increasing demand of energy. Non Conventional Energy Resources like Biofuels viz Biodiesel and Ethanol seems to be the solution. These alternative fuels are technically feasible, environmentally acceptable, economically competitive and produced from easily available resources. This book therefore gives the general information of the possible feedstocks, methods of preparation, physical and chemical properties, advantages, disadvantages and impact of emissions (specially on environment) of Biodiesel and Ethanol. Emphasis is laid upon initiatives taken by India for it. A comparative study of Biodiesel vs Ethanol is also done.
