The poetry book culminates with the poem titled "freebird." The "freebird" is one who sees through the human illusion and casts off the delusions of ego, societal expectation, and self-criticism. It does all this to finally be able to fly. Reviews How do I begin to explain how much I enjoyed this book. It is no secret that contemporary poetry isn't my cup of tea. More often than not, I find it quite hard to hit the mark in just a couple of sentences, but this book really stood out to me. It's hard to explain, but "freebird" feels almost biographical to me. All throughout the book, I was thinking "Oh my god, this is totally me" or "I have felt this exact same way". The poems are completely free of irony, snark, cynicism, pop culture references, and all of the other affectations that have plagued 21st century writing.
