The author for a long time had been interested in such mysterious events as the origins of the first civilizations and the arising of the main religions. In spite of searching for many years he did not find satisfactory answers, however the help came from an unexpected direction. While living in Portugal he came in contact with a book describing the events in Fatima, such as the display on the sky which was witnessed by 50,000 people. This book presented the events from a completely new point of view and provided information unknown to the general public. As a physicist, specialising in lasers, he came to the conclusion that the events were neither of natural nor divine origins, but they had to be prepared by beings of much higher than human intelligence. Following this hypothesis he arrived at a logical conclusion that the intelligent beings had already, long before Fatima intervened in human affairs. This approach explains many mystifying events in the history of mankind. Study of such events as the origins of the first civilisations and the arising of the main religions indicate that most likely they also were the results of such interventions. Based on this the author postulated that the intelligent beings have intervened in human affairs from the very beginning of homo sapiens on Earth. The book follows the above rationale by describing and analysing the events in Fatima, and comparing these events to such known events as other religious apparitions and UFO observations. As a result of this comparison the unique character of the Fatima events is substantiated. The principle of the intelligent beings interventions are discussed and its limitations are described. Analysis of the Sumerian and Egyptian civilizations leads to a conclusion that before them existed a proto-civilization. The arising of religions is explained as the necessary step in the development of humanity. Certain events in the 20th century such as the fall of Nazism and communism are elucidated u
