Threatened by bulldozing ahead of the construction of a dam the site of Jebel Abu Thawwab, located in the mountains to the east of the Jordan River, was excavated over a number of field seasons from 1984 to 1990. This forms the report of their findings from the two main phases of occupation - the Late Neolithic (c.5500-4500 BC) and Early Bronze Age I (c.3200-3000 BC). Chapters outline the rectilinear and curvilinear architecture at the site, special features, evidence for industrial activities and subsistence.
