This comprehensive study of the early sculptured stones of Scotland was commissioned by the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland in 1890, and first published in 1903. It includes discussion of the symbolism of the monuments, their geographical distribution and ornamental designs, and a descriptive list of the monuments by region. This reprint should prove an important addition to the revived interest in Pictish carved stone.
