The world is made up of two races of people, the Starseeds and the Soulless. The Soulless pretend to be normal humans like everyone else, They do not have a soul like the Starseeds. The Soulless do not have source energy of their own. They survive on extracting source energy from the Starseeds. They are aware of the true nature of the universe, but they keep it to themselves. They do not want the Starseeds to know the truth because that will disturb their energy harvest. Starseeds need to know the truth about what is happening. They need to protect themselves from the marauding Soulless, but first they need to know who the Soulless are. The book gives a detailed description about the Soulless and their plans.
