In this short book, the reader is granted some insight into a text which has been ascribed to the 18th century French-Italian hermit monk known as Alberto Nuige. The text is not well-celebrated, and yet, the few people who have perused it with mild curiosity, know it as either the ‘Apocalypse Text’ or the ‘Nuige Text’. According to French lore, Alberto Nuige was a nomadic monk who moved among villages helping the sick, listening to confessions, leading mass, and hosting the occasional wedding, funeral or baptism. However, it is said that, when he slept – which, given his personal lack of wealth and subsequent reliance on charity, he was wont to do in barns, by roadsides, on hilltops, or beneath hedgerows – his dreams propelled him into the future (more specifically, the year 2085) to a time when the ‘true apocalypse’ allegedly takes place. Now, for the first time ever, this translation is available to the general public.
